Venture Capital Director

About the Role

Hays is collaborating with a deep technology investment platform to appoint a Venture Capital Director. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and focuses on senior investment activities within the organization's growing team. The platform invests globally across frontier and industrial technologies, supporting innovative companies in sectors such as water, sustainability, advanced materials, mining technology, advanced manufacturing, and AI hardware.

Role Overview

The Venture Capital Director will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and executing venture capital investments into high-potential deep-tech businesses. This role involves building the investment portfolio, managing stakeholder relationships, and providing support to portfolio companies throughout their growth phases. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to deep technology investing across regional and international markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate venture capital investment opportunities within deep technology sectors.
• Lead commercial, strategic, financial, and technical due diligence processes.
• Structure, negotiate, and execute investment transactions from origination to closing.
• Build and maintain relationships with founders, venture capital funds, accelerators, universities, and ecosystem partners.
• Present investment recommendations to internal investment committees and senior stakeholders.
• Support portfolio companies through strategic guidance, governance participation, and value creation initiatives.
• Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and investment themes across targeted sectors.
• Contribute to portfolio management activities and follow-on investment decisions.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional experience, including at least 3-4 years focused on deep technology venture capital investing.
• Demonstrated experience in sourcing, leading, negotiating, and closing investment transactions.
• Exposure to sectors such as advanced materials, sustainability, water technologies, industrial technologies, AI hardware, advanced manufacturing, mining technologies, robotics, or semiconductors.
• Experience gained within venture capital, corporate venture capital, technology investment platforms, innovation funds, or similar investment environments.
• Strong financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, and investment committee experience.
• Ability to engage effectively with founders, management teams, investors, and senior stakeholders.
• International investment experience across North America, Europe, Asia, or the Middle East is advantageous.
• Prior exposure to deep-tech fund investing, technology transfer, venture building, or startup ecosystems will be viewed favorably.
