About BAE Systems Saudi Arabia

BAE Systems operates as the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under Government-to-Government arrangements, providing equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia. The company is responsible for maintaining Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and training RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel in the safe use of their aircraft, equipment, and weapons. The Role: Maintenance Operations Flight (MOF) Team Leader

BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is seeking a Maintenance Operations Flight (MOF) Team Leader for a full-time position based in Taif. This role offers a competitive salary and involves advising and assisting the MOF Commander (MOFC) in the day-to-day management of MOF responsibilities. The Team Leader ensures all personnel are appropriately qualified and understand the processes and procedures within their assigned areas. Key duties include briefing the MOFC and the Maintenance Squadron Commander (MSC) on issues affecting aircraft availability and producing and analysing engineering and logistics statistics to improve aircraft availability at both the Main Operating Base and on Deployed Operations. This position also serves as the point of contact between the Integrated Logistics Operations Centre (ILOC) and the MOF for the strategic and tactical maintenance management of the assigned Typhoon fleet, supervising and managing RSAF personnel and BAE Systems staff, and performing mentoring and consolidation development of RSAF counterparts within the MOF environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control and supervise all engineering and maintenance operations personnel within the area of responsibility.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with the ILOC for implementing Headquarters strategy within the maintenance organisation.
  • Ensure all continuing airworthiness and maintenance operations activities are conducted in accordance with current processes and procedures by appropriately authorised, qualified, and competent personnel.
  • Verify that all activities under control are covered by the appropriate delegated authorities.
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to RSAF procedures as laid down in the Logistics Management Regulation (LMR).
  • Coach, mentor, and deliver consolidation development to all RSAF and BAE personnel under direction and control.
  • Actively promote and ensure Health and Safety practices, ensuring no one is exposed to unnecessary or uncontrolled risk.
  • Maintain and update MOF local procedures and orders, ensuring they are readily available.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of aircraft status, ETICS, and Rob authorisations.
  • Be responsible for the personal and career development of subordinates within the organisational structure.
  • Ensure that Safety Management Systems and Maintenance Error Management Systems are understood and implemented by staff under leadership.
  • Coordinate Engineering & Logistical support for Typhoon aircraft based at Taif or detached on operations, exercises, or trials.
  • Coordinate the RSAF process of continual improvement, ensuring all personnel support the CI process.
  • Plan, implement, and monitor the maintenance effort to meet operational deployments of the Typhoon AGF as directed by the MSC.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the MOFC and implement appropriate countermeasures where activities may prejudice maintenance performance, safety, and the integrity of the Typhoon Fleet.
  • Manage the Plans and Schedules Section in accordance with RSAF 4-7166-1-2, ensuring correct allocation of assets for the Daily Flying Programme.
  • Carry out Counterpart Training of RSAF Maintenance Officers as allocated to the MOF.
  • Responsible to the MOFC for the day-to-day running of the MOF, ensuring adequate qualified manpower is available.
  • Control the movement of aircraft between units, ensuring all requirements are met for QRA, Operations (FOB’s), and Training Flights, and that aircraft return to MOB for required servicing in a timely manner.
  • Compile and present the Daily Maintenance Brief to the MSC and Senior Company Management, ensuring accurate fleet status.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the MOF Commander relating to Fleet Issues.
  • Monitor the Fleet, ensuring the Fleet Plan is followed for Flying Hours and Fatigue Index.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven leadership ability in a high-tempo, aircraft maintenance delivery-driven environment.
  • Managerial experience within the aerospace industry, preferably gained on 3rd and/or 4th Generation military aircraft at Supervisor level or equivalent.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in military fast jet maintenance support within an operational military flying environment.
  • Good level of interpersonal skill to coordinate activities and the ability to communicate, influence, and direct decision-making.
  • Good understanding of company processes and procedures, and industry knowledge.
  • The ability to act upon own initiative within the scope of the job.
  • A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail.

Desired Skills and Attributes

  • An understanding of the RSAF Logistics Management Regulation (LMR).
  • An understanding of engineering operations procedures within a Maintenance Operations Control environment.
  • Experience of working in the aviation industry in a Gulf Coast Country.
  • A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
  • Previous experience within an Engineering Operations environment.

Work Environment

This full-time position is based in Taif, Saudi Arabia, within a dynamic operational military flying environment. The role involves working closely with both Royal Saudi Air Force personnel and BAE Systems staff, contributing to critical aircraft maintenance and operational readiness.
