About the Role

BAE Systems is seeking an Egress Technician for a full-time position in Dhahran. As the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor, BAE Systems provides equipment, support, and training to Saudi Arabia, focusing on the maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and the training of RSAF personnel. This role is integral to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including Saudisation and the development of national capability through industrialisation and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

The Egress Technician will be responsible for performing comprehensive maintenance, repairs, and modifications on Tornado aircraft egress systems, both on and off the aircraft. This includes executing major and minor maintenance tasks, as well as Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs). The role requires meticulous completion of all required maintenance paperwork, aircraft forms, records, and maintenance documentation in both hard and electronic formats. A key aspect of the role is to ensure the timely and efficient execution of the TSS programme, maintaining safety and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the technician will provide on-the-job and theoretical training to trainees.

Accountabilities and Standards

The technician is accountable for the quality and completeness of all work performed or signed for, ensuring adherence to approved data for aircraft or aircraft components. Work must be conducted within the framework of the TSS Quality Management System, Safety Management System, and RSAF Technical Orders. The role requires proactive identification and communication of personal and team training needs or areas of inexperience to the immediate supervisor. The Egress Technician may also be required to deputise for the Egress Supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience in egress trade speciality or repair and modification on Tornado Aircraft.
  • Current authorisations for Egress maintenance.
  • Completion of a Tornado Egress/Armament Maintenance course.
  • Completion of an Explosive handling course.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • A sound understanding of the RSAF 4-1-7166 series and applicable supporting technical publications.
  • An understanding of RSAF Operations and working practices.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

Candidates should possess a working knowledge of Q-pulse and GOLD systems, along with an understanding of Maintenance and Calibration (M&CA) processes. The ability to interpret engineering drawings is essential for this role.

Additional Requirements

A current driving licence is required for this position. The role may involve providing support to the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) as needed.
