About the Role

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Bakery Chef to lead the production of baked goods for its operations in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves overseeing the creation of a diverse range of items, including breakfast pastries, artisan breads, plated desserts, and banquet desserts. The role requires a blend of technical skill and consistency to deliver high-quality products that meet guest expectations across all hotel outlets.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead bakery production, including the preparation, baking, finishing, and presentation of breads, pastries, cakes, and desserts.
  • Develop and standardize recipes, portioning, and plating for various service areas such as outlets, room service, and banquets.
  • Ensure consistent product quality, taste, texture, and visual presentation across all shifts.
  • Plan daily production schedules, forecast yields, and manage mise en place to effectively meet demand.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor bakery team members, delegating tasks and maintaining performance standards.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and allergen-control procedures, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Monitor ingredient stocks, control food costs, minimize waste, and support inventory and ordering processes.
  • Collaborate with outlet managers, banquet coordinators, and culinary leadership on menu development, special events, and dietary requirements.
  • Innovate seasonal and promotional items to enhance guest experience and drive revenue.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Patisserie, Bakery, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of professional bakery/pastry experience is required.
  • Supervisory experience within a bakery or pastry setting is preferred.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong technical baking skills across a range of products, including breads, viennoiserie, pastries, and plated desserts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards and local certification/permits as required.
  • Ability to accurately read recipes, scale production, and perform basic food-cost calculations.
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, and leadership skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in the local language is required, with additional languages considered an advantage.
