About the Role

Tractebel is seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to join our team in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires a professional with a minimum of 7 years of experience in infrastructure, transportation, building, or construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing material selection, testing, quality control, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards. Strong technical expertise in construction materials, laboratory testing, and quality assurance is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve construction materials submitted by contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure all materials comply with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
• Supervise and monitor material testing activities conducted in laboratories and onsite.
• Review material submittals, technical data sheets, method statements, and test reports.
• Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, laboratories, and client representatives regarding material approvals.
• Conduct inspections of material manufacturing plants, quarries, asphalt plants, concrete batching plants, and suppliers.
• Monitor quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) procedures throughout project execution.
• Investigate material-related issues and provide corrective actions and technical recommendations.
• Verify compliance with international standards such as ASTM, AASHTO, BS, EN, and local authority requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and material approval documentation.
• Support project teams during audits, site inspections, and regulatory reviews.
• Maintain records of approved materials, test results, and quality documentation.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and project evaluations.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in construction materials engineering, quality control, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of material testing methodologies and quality assurance practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Professional certification in quality management or materials engineering is considered an advantage.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Experience in major infrastructure, transportation, highway, rail, airport, or building projects.
• Familiarity with GCC/Middle East construction specifications and authority requirements.
• Experience working with engineering consultants, contractors, and government agencies.
• Knowledge of sustainability and innovative construction materials.
