About the Opportunity

SylvCare for Healthcare Recruitment is seeking a Pediatric Anesthesia Consultant to join a leading tertiary healthcare provider in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role offers a competitive tax-free consultant salary and involves providing specialized anesthetic care for infants, children, and adolescents within a high-acuity surgical environment.

Role Summary

The Pediatric Anesthesia Consultant will deliver comprehensive peri-operative management for a diverse range of pediatric patients, ensuring adherence to international best practices. This position supports various high-acuity surgical specialties and requires expertise in managing complex cases for infants, children, and adolescents.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide independent pediatric anesthesia for a full spectrum of surgical services, including general, neonatal, ENT, orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, trauma, emergency, oncology, radiology, and interventional procedures.
  • Deliver safe anesthesia for high-risk pediatric patients (ASA III–IV), encompassing complex airway and critical care cases.
  • Lead and participate in difficult airway management, rapid sequence induction, and emergency resuscitation.
  • Offer anesthesia support to NICU and PICU, including neonatal emergencies, pre-operative optimization, and postoperative pain control.
  • Perform and supervise regional and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks as part of multimodal pain management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions, peri-operative care planning, and evidence-based clinical pathways.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and departmental audits.
  • Actively contribute to junior anesthesia staff training, simulation sessions, and competency development programs.
  • Ensure full compliance with SCFHS, JCI, and MOH standards for safety, documentation, and clinical governance.

Required Qualifications

  • Western Board Certification in Anesthesia (*, FRCA, American Board, FRCPC, CIC, FANZCA, or equivalent).
  • Recognized Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia or extensive tertiary-level experience in pediatric anesthesia (minimum 2–3 years).
  • Eligibility for SCFHS Consultant Classification.
  • Proficiency in neonatal and pediatric airway management, regional anesthesia, and high-acuity pediatric cases.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary pediatric teams.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Experience in tertiary children’s hospitals or major surgical centers.
  • Exposure to pediatric cardiac anesthesia or complex airway programs.
  • Experience with simulation-based training, pediatric pain pathways, and sedation services.
  • Participation in clinical research, guideline development, or quality improvement projects.
