Role Overview

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer Mechanical to join a supervision consultancy team. This full-time position is for a major infrastructure development project located approximately 100 km north of Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Project Scope and Oversight

The Resident Engineer Mechanical will be responsible for comprehensive oversight of all mechanical and utility-related works on site. This includes ensuring strict adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and approved designs throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical supervision activities on site as part of the consultant team.
• Supervise the installation and construction of potable water supply networks.
• Oversee the construction and installation of firefighting systems.
• Supervise works related to gas distribution networks.
• Monitor the installation of stormwater drainage and sanitary sewage systems.
• Supervise irrigation networks and landscape-related mechanical systems.
• Coordinate mechanical works with other infrastructure utilities, including road networks, power distribution, telecom infrastructure, and street lighting.
• Ensure all works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and international standards.
• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements submitted by contractors.
• Monitor project progress, quality, and compliance with health and safety requirements.
• Prepare and review inspection reports, progress reports, and technical documentation.
• Resolve technical issues on site and coordinate with the design team when required.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering supervision, with a proven track record in major infrastructure development projects.

Work Location and Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position. The project is situated approximately 100 km north of Jeddah, within the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia. The role requires consistent presence at the project site to ensure effective supervision and coordination.

A critical aspect of this role involves upholding stringent quality, health, and safety standards. The Resident Engineer will be responsible for monitoring compliance, preparing comprehensive inspection and progress reports, and maintaining all necessary technical documentation to ensure project integrity and accountability.
