About the Role

International Maritime Industries is seeking a Commissioning Superintendent HVAC to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of HVAC pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. This full-time position is based in Ras Tannurah, Eastern region, and involves working on new-build offshore jack-up drilling rigs. The role focuses on ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient HVAC system operation, achieving project delivery objectives, and securing client acceptance.

Role Context and Scope

The Commissioning Superintendent HVAC will be responsible for all aspects of HVAC systems, including accommodation, machinery, technical, hazardous area, and ventilation systems. This involves testing, startup, performance verification, and handover processes, ensuring adherence to project specifications, classification society requirements, and offshore regulatory standards for operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee pre-commissioning, commissioning, functional testing, startup, and performance verification of HVAC systems across various areas, ensuring operational readiness and project compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and control HVAC commissioning procedures, inspection checklists, test packages, and schedules to ensure systematic execution and timely achievement of project milestones.
  • Oversee the inspection, testing, calibration, and operational validation of HVAC components such as AHUs, chillers, compressors, fans, blowers, dampers, louvers, VFDs, and control systems.
  • Manage the integration and functional verification of HVAC automation systems, control panels, monitoring systems, interlocks, and fire and gas interfaces.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with engineering, construction, QA/QC personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and client representatives for efficient issue resolution.
  • Lead engagements with classification societies, regulatory authorities, and client representatives during inspections, testing, audits, and approvals to secure compliance certification.
  • Ensure all HVAC commissioning activities adhere to HSE requirements, permit-to-work processes, hazardous area regulations, SOLAS, IMO, and classification society standards.
  • Lead troubleshooting, defect identification, punch-list management, corrective actions, and performance optimization activities to achieve system completion.
  • Oversee the preparation and control of commissioning dossiers, test records, inspection reports, ITRs, mechanical completion documentation, RFCC/RFOC certificates, and acceptance records.
  • Direct FAT, SAT, final acceptance testing, system turnover, as-built documentation, and handover activities to ensure successful client acceptance and transition to operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in HVAC commissioning, preferably within the offshore or maritime industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex commissioning projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and relevant industry standards.

Work Environment

This role is based in Ras Tannurah, Eastern region, and involves working on new-build offshore jack-up drilling rigs. The position requires a commitment to maintaining high safety and compliance standards in a dynamic project environment.
