Engineer Technician (Kitchen)

About the Role

Marriott International is seeking an Engineer Technician (Kitchen) to join their team in Mecca, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires 2-5 years of experience and involves responding to and processing customer repair requests, resolving maintenance issues, and performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect tools, equipment, or machinery visually and transport necessary equipment.
• Identify, locate, and operate all equipment shut-off valves.
• Maintain required maintenance inventory and order necessary parts and supplies.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to other teams using approved standards.
• Perform highly complex repairs to physical property, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration systems, and pool heaters, ensuring compliance with company standards and codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair various types of equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Utilize the lockout/tagout system before performing maintenance work.
• Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) troubleshooting for the hotel.
• Train and mentor other engineers when necessary, and perform Service Engineer responsibilities including readings and rounds.

Operational Duties and Standards

• Follow all company policies and procedures, report maintenance issues, hazardous working conditions, accidents, and injuries.
• Complete safety training and certifications, and store flammable materials according to safety instructions.
• Ensure a clean and professional appearance, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
• Welcome and greet customers according to company standards, anticipate and address customer service needs, and assist disabled individuals.
• Adhere to quality requirements and standards, and develop positive professional relationships with peers.
• Use clear and courteous language in all communications.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High-level blueprint and standard electrical schematic reading skills for plumbing and HVAC.
• Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical aptitude.
• Above-average skills in at least three of the following: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management; basic skills in the others.
• Strong knowledge and skills in the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials for repair and maintenance tasks.
• In-depth knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and other systems.
• A valid driver's license and Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification are required.
• Compliance with applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than 50 pounds (* kg) without assistance, and heavier objects with assistance.
• Capability to ascend and descend stairs, service ramps, and ladders.
• Ability to reach overhead and below knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Proficiency in entering and retrieving work-related information using computers.

Experience and Education

• A high school diploma or equivalent, along with vocational or technical experience, is recommended.
• Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electricity or refrigeration, inventory and parts ordering, and interior and exterior surface preparation and painting.
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience is required.
• No supervisory experience is necessary for this role.
