About the EPMS Supervisor Role

The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company is seeking an experienced EPMS Supervisor to oversee control operations and manage the work of control room personnel. This full-time position is based in Neom and requires 5-10 years of relevant experience. The EPMS Supervisor will be accountable for the operation of all utility assets, including traditional power plants, transmission and distribution lines, substations, and behind-the-meter assets such as DERs and BESS. This role involves directing electric system operations engineering through continuous monitoring, planning, analysis, and execution of 24/7 grid operations.

Core Responsibilities

The EPMS Supervisor is directly responsible for managing the company's generation and transmission operations to ensure safe and reliable electric service and prevent power outages. This includes monitoring multiple switching and distribution operations centers to assess system operating conditions and directing adjustments as needed. The role also encompasses responsibility for substation operations and coordinating with field personnel to de-energize circuits or adjust switches, ensuring the safety of crews and the public, and maintaining the stability and reliability of electrical systems. A deep understanding of grid operations, renewable energy technologies, and regulatory requirements is essential.

Key Functions and Scope

  • Supervise operational EPMS Dispatchers/Schedulers and report performance against established Operational KPIs.
  • Develop and review standard operating procedures in alignment with O&M Manuals and OEM Recommendations.
  • Identify all requirements for successful and controlled EPMS operations in a timely manner.
  • Develop and conduct training plans for operational subordinates.

Operational Oversight and Integration

This role involves supervising and coordinating day-to-day grid operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and real-time monitoring of energy generation and consumption. The EPMS Supervisor will implement and oversee operational procedures to ensure grid stability, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards. A key aspect is analyzing grid performance data, identifying potential issues, and developing strategies for operational efficiency. Furthermore, the role requires developing and implementing strategies for the seamless integration of renewable energy sources into the grid, optimizing their dispatch and curtailment while maintaining grid stability.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in grid operations, with at least 3 years at a senior operational level, preferably in a renewable energy generation-centric environment.
  • Strong understanding of power system operation principles, grid control strategies, and renewable energy technologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to grid operations and renewable energy integration (*, FERC, NERC, IEEE).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to manage teams and coordinate complex projects.
  • Professional certifications related to grid operations or renewable energy management are desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.
