About the Role

Farabi Petrochemicals is seeking an experienced Rotating Engineer to join their team in Yanbu. This full-time role is central to ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of rotating equipment within the plant. The engineer will provide essential technical guidance, support maintenance activities, and contribute to the development and implementation of robust maintenance strategies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The Rotating Engineer will be responsible for a range of duties, including policy adherence, operational oversight, and direct involvement in maintenance activities:

  • Implement approved departmental policies, processes, and procedures, monitoring adherence to ensure controlled work execution.
  • Analyze the performance of rotating equipment systems and provide informed recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinate with vendors for maintenance contracts and prepare comprehensive reports to ensure seamless daily rotating equipment performance.
  • Assist with and provide technical expertise for rotating equipment maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of Predictive and Preventive Maintenance plans and procedures for all rotating equipment.
  • Review required spares and services with vendors to prevent maintenance delays.

Technical Duties and Equipment Management

This role involves deep technical engagement with rotating equipment throughout its lifecycle:

  • Establish procedures and instructions for rotating equipment maintenance in accordance with engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Witness and test newly installed rotating equipment to ensure compliance with supplied specifications.
  • Participate in decisions regarding rotating equipment replacement by providing technical evaluations.
  • Record and analyze causes of equipment failure, recommending long-term remedy solutions.
  • Lead investigation teams and conduct root cause analysis for major rotating equipment failures.
  • Troubleshoot various types of rotating equipment problems and review parts selection for obsolete or out-of-production components.
  • Develop required technical studies, reports, and reviews for all types of rotating equipment.
  • Develop and perform performance tests on different types of rotating equipment, such as compressors and pumps, including efficiency calculations.
  • Plan strategies to maintain rotating equipment and avoid obsolescence.
  • Contribute to design packages for any upgrade changes in the plant's rotary equipment and develop/review Operating Instruction Manuals for new systems.
  • Perform vibration analysis, covering steady state, transient, vortex shedding, slug, and water hammer.

Training, Reporting, and HSSE Compliance

The Rotating Engineer will also play a role in personnel development, reporting, and ensuring a safe work environment:

  • Provide on-job training to maintenance technicians and mentor entry-level engineers to develop their skills and transfer technical knowledge.
  • Ensure the keeping, maintaining, and updating of a database of all historical data pertaining to rotating equipment failures, and assist in analyzing failure data and preparing reliability test reports.
  • Prepare accurate technical evaluation reports to meet departmental requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) procedures across the Company.
  • Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs, and adhere to the Company's HSSE Code of Conduct, actively promoting risk assessments.
  • Participate in incident investigations, providing technical expertise to understand system causes and develop recommendations for recurrence avoidance.
  • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed by the Line Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in Rotating Equipment within the oil industry or a similar process industry.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of oil industry standards and codes for Rotating Equipment Engineering.
  • Certifications: Additional certifications are considered an advantage.
