About the Role

The Royal Commission Medical Center Yanbu is seeking a Registered Pharmacist to join its team in Yanbu. This full-time position involves a combination of general organizational responsibilities applicable to all staff and specific technical tasks essential for pharmacists within the medical center. The role requires 0-1 years of experience.

Organizational Responsibilities

All staff members are expected to adhere to the Royal Commission Medical Center Yanbu's policies and procedures, ensuring a professional and compliant work environment. Key responsibilities include:

• Following RCMC policy and procedure.
• Attending annual reviews and performing departmental in-services.
• Preparing reports and adhering to the dress code.
• Maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with vendors, physicians, and staff.
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including national and JCI regulations.
• Wearing identification while on duty and ensuring compliance with policies regarding department operations, fire, safety, and infection control.
• Communicating the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital.
• Maintaining an excellent attendance record and representing the organization professionally.
• Maintaining organizational confidentiality and complying with ethical business practices.
• Completing annual education requirements and reporting any negative, abnormal, or unexpected events/incidents.

Key Pharmacist Responsibilities

This role involves critical technical tasks to ensure safe and efficient medication management and dispensing. The pharmacist will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of pharmacy operations, from dispensing to inventory control.

• Establishing and following up on the unit dose dispensing system.
• Revising patient medication profiles to verify prescription safety for drug allergies and interactions.
• Monitoring correct medication use in wards and managing drug requisitions and supplies for the unit dose area.
• Supervising pharmacy technicians and ensuring timely medication delivery to patients.
• Preparing and supervising IV admixtures and total parenteral nutrition preparations.
• Compounding extemporaneous preparations and ensuring they are free of drug interactions.
• Ensuring sterility of the laminar flow hood and cleanliness of IV mixing areas.
• Dispensing prescriptions accurately and ensuring appropriateness of medications with regards to diagnosis.
• Providing proper patient counseling and storing medications under correct conditions.
• Directly responsible for dispensing and inventory of narcotic and controlled drugs, ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health regulations and RCMC policies.
• Performing monthly inspections of narcotic and controlled drugs in nursing units.
• Preparing and submitting monthly and semi-annual reports on narcotic and restricted drugs.
• Updating physicians on out-of-stock medications and recommending substitutes.
• Monitoring and reporting prescriptions for possible medication errors, near-misses, and suspected Adverse Drug Reactions.
• Attending pharmacy and other departmental meetings as required.

Qualifications and Experience

This is a full-time position based at the Royal Commission Medical Center Yanbu in Yanbu. The role requires working in various pharmacy locations as needed, including inpatient and outpatient settings, and may involve deputizing for the inpatient pharmacy supervisor during their absence.
