About the Role

Saudi Aramco is seeking an Architect to join the Engineering & Design Division within the Community Services Technical Support Department. This is a full-time position for an experienced professional with over 10 years of experience. The division provides multidisciplinary engineering, architectural, and technical services for Community Services facilities and programs.

Role Context and Purpose

The Senior Community Facilities Engineer – Architectural provides senior-level architectural and technical expertise for the assessment, planning, design, renovation, and enhancement of Community Services facilities. This role supports multidisciplinary coordination, compliance with codes and standards, value engineering, constructability, and construction support. The position focuses on delivering sustainable, resilient, and human-centered facilities, while promoting resource efficiency, low-carbon and circular economy principles, accessibility, placemaking, public realm quality, and lifecycle performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior architectural engineering expertise for new construction, renovations, expansions, rehabilitation, and enhancement of Community Services facilities, from initial assessment through design, construction, and closeout.
• Perform architectural assessments of existing facilities to evaluate condition, functionality, code compliance, accessibility, building performance, and suitability for operational requirements, developing sound improvement strategies.
• Develop architectural concepts, space programs, planning criteria, design requirements, and technical solutions that meet proponent needs while optimizing functionality, user experience, operational efficiency, maintainability, and lifecycle value.
• Review architectural studies, drawings, specifications, calculations, material selections, and design packages at various stages to verify technical adequacy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with Company requirements, building codes, and international standards.
• Lead the resolution of complex architectural and facility-related technical issues, developing recommendations that consider safety, functionality, aesthetics, constructability, cost, schedule, sustainability, maintainability, resilience, and long-term facility performance.
• Coordinate architectural requirements with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, interior design, landscape, and other disciplines to achieve fully integrated multidisciplinary design solutions.
• Perform design optimization, value engineering, and constructability reviews to identify opportunities for cost avoidance, improved performance, reduced execution risk, and effective utilization of existing facilities and infrastructure.
• Apply sustainable and climate-responsive design principles to improve energy and resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and support low-carbon and net-zero objectives where technically and economically practical.
• Incorporate circular economy principles through efficient material use, adaptive reuse, durability, flexibility, waste reduction, and lifecycle considerations in facility planning and design.
• Promote human-centered design, accessibility, placemaking, and high-quality public realm principles to improve usability, comfort, inclusivity, and overall community experience.
• Evaluate emerging global trends, technologies, materials, and best practices related to sustainability, decarbonization, resilience, smart buildings, and future-ready community facilities, recommending appropriate applications.
• Provide architectural technical support during construction, including review of technical submittals and field conditions, evaluation of proposed design changes, resolution of site-related technical issues, and verification of design intent.
• Assess deviations, nonconformances, and unforeseen site conditions, developing appropriate architectural corrective solutions while protecting project quality, schedule, and operational requirements.
• Provide technical consultation to Community Services organizations and management on facility development, renovation strategies, architectural standards, design alternatives, and complex building-related matters.
• Develop and contribute to architectural guidelines, design criteria, standard details, technical practices, and other engineering tools to promote consistency, quality, sustainability, and effective governance across Community Services facilities.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced architects and engineers, contributing to the development and transfer of architectural knowledge within the organization.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in architectural engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise in the assessment, planning, design, renovation, and enhancement of diverse facilities.
• Strong understanding of building codes, international standards, and sustainable design principles.
• Ability to lead complex technical issue resolution and coordinate multidisciplinary design solutions.
