About Worley

Worley is a global professional services company specializing in energy, chemicals, and resources. The company partners with customers to deliver projects and create value throughout the lifecycle of their assets. Worley is committed to bridging traditional energy sources with more sustainable alternatives, while continuing to provide essential energy, chemicals, and resources.

The Opportunity: Operation Readiness Engineer

Worley is seeking an Operation Readiness Engineer for a full-time position at the Ras Al Khair Site in the Eastern region. This role is central to ensuring that facilities, their supporting infrastructure, systems, and processes are fully prepared for safe, efficient, and sustainable operations from day one. The Operation Readiness Engineer executes the operational readiness program in close collaboration with engineering, supply chain, construction, commissioning, and operations and maintenance (O&M) teams.

The position provides technical expertise, coordination, and hands-on support to bridge the gap between project delivery and operational functionality. It involves integrating asset readiness and maintainability principles throughout project execution, from detailed design to commissioning and start-up, to ensure systems, processes, and personnel are technically and procedurally prepared for safe and reliable operations upon handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and maintain elements of the Operational Readiness Plan (ORP) under the direction of the Operational Readiness Manager, tracking progress against readiness gates and supporting readiness reviews.
  • Support the definition and population of asset hierarchies, criticality assessments, and metadata requirements, assisting in validating asset information within the Asset Information Model (AIM) and CMMS to ensure alignment with ISO 55001 standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and reliability teams to verify that maintainability requirements are incorporated into system designs, and assist in developing and uploading preventive and predictive maintenance tasks into the CMMS.
  • Coordinate spare parts and materials by supporting the identification and cataloguing of long-lead items, initial spares, and consumables, and liaising with supply chain and warehouse teams for proper storage, tagging, and data entry.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and validating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and related job aids, participating in procedure walkdowns and validation exercises.
  • Support the rollout of operations and maintenance training programs, ensuring training materials are current and aligned with actual plant systems, and participating in field-based competency assessments and readiness exercises.
  • Conduct technical verification of asset data, engineering deliverables, and digital models prior to handover, confirming that P&IDs, data books, and 3D models are accurate, complete, and linked to operational systems.
  • Participate in performance testing, reliability runs, and early operations activities, capturing data, identifying deficiencies, and supporting corrective action implementation to achieve operational readiness targets.
  • Contribute to readiness reviews, risk assessments, and compliance verification activities, documenting and tracking findings to ensure closeout before system handover.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to execute operational readiness tasks and deliverables in accordance with corporate standards, procedures, and project execution plans.
  • Strong understanding of project-to-operations interfaces, asset data structures, and maintenance system integration.
  • Proficiency in operational readiness and asset management systems, including CMMS, AIM, APM, and document control platforms.
  • Ability to apply and support the use of readiness tracking tools, project databases, and engineering software to maintain data accuracy and progress visibility.
  • Familiarity with ISO 55001 asset management principles and integrated project delivery tools used in readiness and commissioning workflows.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to ensure information consistency across teams.

Role Context and Reporting

This role operates under general direction from the Operational Readiness Manager or a senior readiness lead. Work assignments are defined by project milestones, readiness plans, and deliverable schedules. The engineer receives guidance on priorities, complex issues, and stakeholder coordination, but is expected to work independently in assigned technical areas.

The Operation Readiness Engineer applies sound engineering judgment to support decisions impacting asset operability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost, and exercises technical and procedural judgment within established readiness frameworks and engineering standards. The role involves recommending solutions to issues impacting operational readiness deliverables, data quality, and system handover, and escalating significant design, scope, or schedule risks to the Operational Readiness Manager or project leadership as required.

The position acts as a key technical interface between project engineering, commissioning, and operations teams, preparing and maintaining readiness documentation, progress reports, and data verification records. While typically not having direct supervisory authority, the engineer may provide functional guidance to junior engineers, technicians, or contractors assisting with readiness deliverables such as procedure development, data validation, or asset tagging, and may coordinate small work groups or task-based activities.
