About the Role

SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering is seeking a Senior Public Health Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis. This pivotal role involves the comprehensive design, coordination, review, and delivery of public health engineering systems for various building projects. The successful candidate will lead the design efforts for essential infrastructure, including water supply, drainage, sewage, stormwater, and specialist public health systems, ensuring strict adherence to local authority regulations, international standards, sustainability requirements, and overall project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake independent design of Public Health Services, GAS, and Fire Protection systems for international projects.
• Prepare technical markups and sketches for modelling by the BIM team.
• Represent SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering at meetings with clients and contractors.
• Liaise effectively with Local Statutory Authorities.
• Write comprehensive technical reports.
• Prepare design calculations using industry-standard software.
• Develop technical specifications in Master format CSI and NES.
• Maintain accurate records and archives in accordance with company standards.
• Manage personal workload and oversee the workload of other team members.
• Prepare and manage project budgets.
• Engage in multi-discipline coordination and workshops.
• Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes are fully incorporated into the design.
• Raise enquiries during PHE, Fire, and Gas design development.
• Review and develop established standard details and specifications, aligning them with current market trends.
• Manage the production of standard PHE, Fire, and Gas details/specifications.
• Oversee resource management across the PHE, Fire, and Gas package.
• Make strategic technical decisions.
• Assume technical responsibility for the quality of PHE, Fire, and Gas design deliverables.

Qualifications and Experience

• Fully qualified professional with relevant market knowledge.
• Minimum BEng or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Over 10 years of industry experience post-qualification.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards membership with professional bodies such as IPA, CIBSE, or NFPA.
• Significant experience working within a design consultancy, particularly in the Middle East.
• Proven experience in delivering projects in conjunction with remote design centres.
• Demonstrated experience as a designer and technical authority within a design consultancy, applying broad professional knowledge and experienced judgement.

Technical Proficiency

• Exceptional skills and knowledge of working in a design consultancy, with a comprehensive understanding of local and international codes and regulations.
• High level of technical proficiency in Public Health Services and Fire Protection Systems design is essential.
• Ability to develop technical specifications using Master format CSI and NES.
• Proficiency in computer applications such as Windows, Revit, Revisto, HASS, HEVACOMP, Navisworks, and Microsoft packages, with an understanding of the BIM process.
• Wider knowledge of integrated design and collaboration with other disciplines is highly desirable.

• Awareness of the commercial processes required for the administration of the Change Control system.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and express technical concepts clearly.

• Good report writing skills and experience in making presentations to, and attending meetings with, clients.
• Proven ability to form and manage relationships with clients, network effectively, and promote the company.
