Senior Specialist Anesthesiologist

About the Role

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib (HMG) is seeking a Senior Specialist Anesthesiologist for a permanent position. This role is responsible for providing high-standard clinical practice and expertise in the assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients requiring anesthesia. The Senior Specialist Anesthesiologist will also support consultants and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department and hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical and surgical care for admitted patients within their department or under their consultant.
• Manage assigned clinics as per the approved rota, if requested by management.
• Conduct initial assessments, request investigations, analyze test results, diagnose, treat, and reassess patients according to granted privileges and in consultation with their consultant.
• Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and specialized medical care under the supervision of a Consultant, as per granted privileges.
• Monitor patients' conditions and progress during each shift and inform their consultant.
• Perform daily independent rounds for all admitted patients in the department and under their consultant in other departments.
• Accompany consultants during rounds and assist in assigned surgical procedures.
• Document complete medical records and update progress notes in a timely manner, adhering to HMG Policy.
• Authenticate medical records at initial entries and progress notes using their unique login credentials.
• Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures for which they are specifically privileged based on qualification, training, and experience.
• Document Discharge Summaries and Medical Reports electronically in Patient’s Health Records.
• Attend all hospital emergency codes as per hospital policy.
• Implement all approved policies, procedures, rules, regulations, protocols, and clinical guidelines.
• Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, therapists, and residents in patient care.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities within their department.
• Serve on Departmental and Hospital Committees when requested.
• Ensure adherence to Islamic Values and Medical Ethics.
• Maintain professional care standards in accordance with International and National Healthcare Standards.
• Obtain informed consent for all patients for diagnostic procedures, operations, tests, or procedures, in line with hospital policy.
• Provide reports and information as required by the Consultant or Head of Department.
• Educate patients and their families on healthy lifestyles.
• Contribute to community awareness and education on health-related issues.
• Provide orientation, bedside training, and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees.
• Participate in personal and departmental education, training, and development activities.
• Lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enhance patient experience with compassion, respect, and dignity.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties within their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience and meet the following requirements:

• Graduate of a Medical School recognized by the Medical Council of the country of origin.
• Completion of appropriate internship and residency programs.
• Post-graduate qualifications in the specialty of Anesthesia.
