AsstChief Engineer I

About the Role

Sheraton is seeking an AsstChief Engineer I for a full-time position. This role involves assisting the department head in managing budgets, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. The AsstChief Engineer I is accountable for maintaining the building and grounds, with a particular focus on safety, security, and asset protection. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the distribution and monitoring of repair work orders, ensuring timely and quality completion.
• Assist in effectively planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
• Manage the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
• Supervise the day-to-day operations of Engineering and related departments, including in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
• Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
• Select, order, or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.

Employee and Guest Relations

• Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees, fostering effective communication.
• Help increase guest and employee satisfaction through effective communications and training.
• Ensure property policies are administered fairly and consistently.
• Empower employees to provide excellent customer service and emphasize guest satisfaction in departmental meetings.
• Set a positive example for guest relations and focus on continuous improvement.

Operational Duties and Requirements

• Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine required work.
• Maintain accurate logs and records as required.
• Operate generators and fire pumps as necessary.
• Provide emergency response services 24/7.
• Repair equipment (*, refrigeration, laundry) as necessary.

Team Leadership and Development

• Help train employees in safety procedures and support a departmental orientation program.
• Communicate performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions and participate in the employee performance appraisal process.
• Ensure disciplinary procedures and documentation adhere to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs).
• Assist in the interviewing and hiring of employee team members with appropriate skills.
• Supervise staffing levels to meet guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives.

Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in a relevant engineering or maintenance role.
