About the Role

Le Meridien is seeking an AsstDir-Human Resources to support the Director of Human Resources in executing strategies focused on attracting, retaining, and developing diverse talent. This full-time position involves directing and collaborating with human resource employees to manage daily departmental activities, including recruitment, total compensation, employee relations, and training and development. The role ensures the delivery of services that meet or exceed employee needs and contribute to business success, while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure open positions are advertised in appropriate venues to attract a diverse candidate pool and are visibly listed for internal and external candidates.
  • Collaborate with the Employment Administrator to establish and maintain contact with external recruitment sources, such as state job services, local colleges, recruiting agencies, and community-based organizations.
  • Network with local organizations and peers to source candidates for current or future openings.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental transfers and promotions, including those to other properties within the brand.
  • Oversee the selection and offer processes for hourly employees, ensuring proper procedures are followed, valid reasons for selection/non-selection are documented, and applicants receive status notifications.
  • Partner with department managers and recruiting professionals to recruit for management positions, make hiring decisions, and negotiate job offers in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with key policies, including Sexual Harassment, Non-Harassment, Non-Discrimination, and No Solicitation.
  • Ensure interviews are conducted according to recommended guidelines, consistent screening criteria are used, and only job-related questions are asked.
  • Ensure wages are paid in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and federal and state laws, covering aspects such as meeting attendance pay, maximum rate of pay, entry-level rates for new hires, overtime provisions, and separation pay.
  • Ensure drug screening and background checks are completed in accordance with brand Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manage Workers' Compensation claims to ensure appropriate employee care and cost management.
  • Educate employees and the HR team on the benefits package and eligibility requirements.
  • Provide an overview of employee benefits to the management team to enable them to educate their employees and answer routine questions.
  • Ensure the department has the necessary resources to administer employee benefits.
  • Ensure hourly performance appraisal processes are in place.
  • Assist in identifying key drivers of employee satisfaction and support managers in addressing issues with written plans and actions.
  • Coach managers on the progressive discipline process.
  • Ensure development plans are in place, with documented goals and measured progress.
  • Utilize an "open door" policy to address employee problems or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure effective employee communication channels are established and active.
  • Analyze accident trends and report these trends to the management team.
  • Monitor the work environment for signs of union organization.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in human resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
  • OR
  • A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related major, with 2 years of experience in human resources, management operations, or a related professional area.
