Role Summary

The Banquets Manager directs and motivates the banquet team, providing high-quality service in line with established requirements and standards. This full-time role involves monitoring financial and administrative responsibilities, including asset protection, and ensuring clear communication for event success. The manager identifies training opportunities and develops strategies to achieve departmental goals, while upholding the Gold Standards of The Ritz-Carlton.

Key Responsibilities

• Project department supply needs, including china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, and props.
• Apply knowledge of all laws relevant to event operations.
• Manage banquet activities to maximize customer satisfaction and understand their impact on overall event success.
• Adhere to and reinforce all company standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain established sanitation levels and manage departmental inventories and equipment.
• Control liquor costs and manage banquet beverage perpetual inventory using records.
• Schedule banquet service staff according to forecasts and service standards, optimizing profits.
• Assist the team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and foster growth.
• Set goals, delegate tasks, and conduct monthly department meetings to improve performance.
• Apply and broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and current event trends.
• Act as a liaison to the kitchen staff and lead shifts, actively participating in event servicing.

Customer Service and Team Leadership

• Set a positive example for guest relations and interact with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service.
• Respond to and resolve guest problems and complaints effectively.
• Empower employees to deliver excellent customer service and ensure they understand expectations.
• Strive to improve service performance, emphasizing guest satisfaction and continuous improvement in all departmental meetings.
• Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees.
• Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained in safety.
• Observe employee service behaviors, provide feedback, and monitor progress through regular discussions.
• Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans based on Meeting Planner Survey results to address service challenges.
• Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of relevant experience in banquet operations or a similar hospitality management role. The ability to direct and motivate a team, manage financial and administrative tasks, and ensure high-quality service is essential.
