Dir Systems/MIS

About the Role

Sheraton is seeking a Dir-Systems/MIS to contribute advanced knowledge and skills in Management Information Services (MIS) technology and general hospitality business practices. This full-time position supports cluster and technology objectives by assisting hotel management with MIS technology planning, decision-making, implementation, and maintenance. The role involves interfacing with vendors, owners, executive committee, and hotel staff, and may direct the work of hotel or technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain MIS technology plans.
• Coordinate and implement communications for all new MIS applications/system installations and problem resolution.
• Provide project support for new MIS roll-outs/implementations and lead project work as needed.
• Offer end-user support to hotel staff and the business center.
• Prepare proposals, analyses, projects, or cost-models.
• Provide timely, accurate, and detailed status reports upon request.

Technology Management and Compliance

• Evaluate and make recommendations regarding technology/asset life-cycles.
• Foresee, identify, and ensure resolution of MIS system(s)’ performance problems.
• Certify software applications for use at properties and consult with properties on all aspects of information technology.
• Execute property disaster recovery and business continuity as it relates to technology.
• Ensure property compliance with company Policy and Information Security Manual, taking action to address deficiencies.
• Determine and implement solutions according to cluster Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure periodic inventories of applications and hardware are conducted and reported to property management.
• Review vendor proposals and select appropriate vendors for local technologies/hardware, ensuring compliance with technology-related vendor contracts.
• Ensure properties secure and maintain technology assets in accordance with company policies and standards.

System Operations and Support

• Utilize knowledge to solve support issues and train/develop junior employees.
• Manage information technology security compliance and ensure proper implementation of security measures.
• Manage reporting and compliance efforts for the assigned area.
• Create and maintain a secure server environment.
• Perform server backups and routine/non-routine preventative maintenance.
• Ensure adequate bandwidth exists and circuits are secured.
• Communicate and ensure implementation of information technology standards and best practices.
• Provide exceptional customer service.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates should possess 2-5 years of experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related professional area, and meet one of the following educational criteria:

• A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related major, with 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• A 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related major, with 2 years of relevant professional experience and certified trainer status.
