About the Role

Libera Consultants is supporting a leading drilling contractor in Saudi Arabia in the search for an experienced Drilling Superintendent. This full-time, senior site-based leadership role is located in the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia and involves overall accountability for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of onshore drilling operations. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day operational leadership on a land rig, guiding multiple disciplines to ensure consistent performance, safety, and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full operational responsibility for day-to-day rig performance, ensuring drilling activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with programmed objectives.
• Drive operational discipline across drilling, maintenance, and support teams to maximize rig uptime and performance.
• Act as the primary site leader, ensuring clear alignment between rig operations and onshore management teams.
• Coordinate the delivery of materials, services, and specialist support to maintain uninterrupted drilling operations.
• Ensure drilling fluid systems, well control practices, and pressure control procedures are correctly applied and continuously monitored.
• Maintain oversight of critical well control equipment, including testing regimes, readiness status, and compliance requirements.
• Lead and manage rig move execution on land locations, ensuring planning is translated into safe and efficient field operations.
• Champion proactive maintenance practices, ensuring equipment reliability, readiness, and proper inventory control of critical spares and consumables.
• Provide leadership during non-routine operations and emergency situations, ensuring structured and controlled response actions.
• Conduct regular operational audits and site inspections, ensuring risks are identified early and corrective actions are closed out effectively.
• Develop, mentor, and support rig crews, reinforcing strong safety behaviors and continuous performance improvement.
• Maintain accurate operational reporting and ensure clear communication with all internal and external stakeholders.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

We are seeking an experienced drilling professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. The ideal candidate will possess:

• Strong knowledge of drilling operations, well construction, and the wider oil and gas industry.
• Experience working with top drive systems and mechanical and/or AC/DC drilling rigs.
• Competency in using Microsoft Office and standard operational reporting systems.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, site-based role within the land drilling operations of a leading contractor in Saudi Arabia. The position requires direct leadership and oversight of rig crews and operations.
