Duty Technician / Plumber

About the Role

The Ritz-Carlton is seeking a Duty Technician / Plumber to join their team in a full-time capacity. This role involves responding to and resolving guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the proper functioning of various hotel systems and equipment. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines and carry necessary equipment.
• Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs.
• Perform complex repairs on physical property, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration, and pool heaters, adhering to company standards and local/national codes.
• Troubleshoot and repair various equipment, including pumps, motors, plumbing (*, unclogging drains), electrical items, HVAC equipment, and internet devices.
• Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system for all maintenance work.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Train and mentor other engineers as required and perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification.
• Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
• Advanced ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics concerning plumbing and HVAC.
• Above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability.
• Proficiency in at least three of the following categories, above-average skills in three more, and basic skills in the remaining: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management.
• Solid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance and energy management.

The successful candidate will adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures, reporting any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries. This includes completing safety training and certifications, and properly storing flammable materials. Maintaining a clean and professional appearance, ensuring confidentiality, and protecting company assets are also essential. The role requires welcoming guests according to company standards, anticipating service needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and adhering to quality expectations. Developing positive working relationships and supporting team goals are key aspects of this position.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to perform heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance.
• Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders.
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Ability to enter and locate work-related information using computers.
