SENIOR MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST AUTOMATED CORE FACILITY

About the Role

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSH) in Medina is seeking a Senior Medical Technologist for its Automated Core Facility. This full-time role involves performing and leading specialized functions within a laboratory subsection, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to established standards. The position requires 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize workflow and manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory subsection.
• Ensure all work is completed and reported promptly, assigning staff to maximize efficiency.
• Maintain the computerized Laboratory Information Systems for the subsection.
• Ensure optimum levels of supplies are available, managing ordering and inventory systems.
• Assist in the development of new methodologies and the evaluation of new equipment.
• Update policy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.
• Perform analyses, tests, and procedures as per established laboratory standards, maintaining quality control.
• Participate in the Quality Assurance programs of the section.
• Investigate incident reports and implement associated corrective actions.
• Maintain equipment repair logs and records of operation, maintenance, and repair.
• Assist the section supervisor in ongoing employee performance appraisals and counsel subordinates to improve performance.
• Orient, train, provide continuing education, and guide lower-graded personnel, other laboratory and healthcare staff, students, and residents.
• Assist the section supervisor in the evaluation of potential employment candidates.
• Implement and maintain appropriate laboratory safety procedures and practices.
• Perform technical duties as assigned, including weekends, night shifts, and on-call coverage.
• Comply with section policies, procedures, and protocols, and follow the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA, and other accreditation agency standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Current registration from the country of origin and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) is required.
• Registration with a National Certification Agency, such as Clinical Special Cytogenetics/American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) for American candidates, registered Medical Technologist for European candidates, Australian Institute of Medical Lab Science (AIMS) or Fellow Institute of Medical Lab Sciences for British or Australian candidates, or Medical Lab Science for New Zealander candidates, or registered as a Medical Technologist in the country of origin for non-Saudi candidates, is required.
