Control Room Operator

About the Role

Acwa China is seeking a Control Room Operator to join their team in Al Qassim. This full-time position involves monitoring and controlling unit/plant operating parameters and coordinating with other operators on all activities affecting plant operations. The role requires 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations and maintain familiarity with firefighting equipment in the assigned area.
• Understand plant P&IDs, SOPs, work instructions, operation and control logic, and emergency operating procedures.
• Monitor all unit parameters, record periodic readings on log sheets, and summarize shift activities and events in the logbook.
• Follow instructions from the Shift Charge Engineer and Shift Supervisor, coordinating operational activities with other operators.
• Respond promptly and effectively to abnormal operating conditions.
• Coordinate and ensure Lock Out & Tag Out (LOTO) procedures are followed for equipment isolation during maintenance, in accordance with the approved Permit to Work (PTW) procedure. Normalize equipment as instructed after cancellation.
• Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to ensure equipment parameters are within acceptable limits, reporting any abnormalities to the Shift Supervisor / Shift Charge Engineer.
• Perform periodic protection tests under the supervision of the Shift Charge Engineer / Supervisor and maintain required records. Execute equipment changeovers according to established schedules.
• Raise work requests or defect notifications for faulty equipment and follow up on rectification.
• Assist in the training and familiarization of new operators.
• Report near misses and implement prescribed risk controls.
• Report deviations related to the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.
• Ensure proper waste disposal measures are followed.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a relevant operational role.
• Demonstrated ability to monitor and control plant operating parameters effectively.
• Proficiency in coordinating operational activities with team members.

Work Environment

This position requires readiness to work in a remote location within Al Qassim. The role is full-time, with salary details to be discussed during the interview process.
