About the Role

KUWAIT STEEL is seeking an Operator III- Air Separation Plant to join their team in Al Qatif. This full-time position involves operating and monitoring air separation plant equipment, ensuring the efficient production of oxygen and nitrogen, and maintaining safety standards. The role requires 0-1 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Adjust pressure, temperature, flow rates, and purity parameters to support oxygen and nitrogen production.
• Record daily operating parameters of Air Separation Plant (ASP) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage and handling equipment.
• Identify and report any defects or failures during shifts to the Shift In-Charge.
• Conduct daily checks and note parameters for ASP equipment, including compressors, chilled water equipment, turbines, cold boxes, pumps, and storage facilities, ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance with Mechanical Technicians according to servicing plans and oversee jobs during planned downtime and corrective maintenance activities under safety norms.
• Perform shift activities in the Water Treatment Plant (WTP), including sand filter backwash and water blowdown.
• Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations by providing accurate failure observations, field-level feedback, and execution insights.
• Apply approved preventive actions and updated maintenance tasks resulting from RCA outcomes.
• Inspect, preserve, and functionally test critical spare parts stored in the warehouse, following defined procedures and schedules.
• Accurately record maintenance execution data in SAP, including work performed, failure symptoms, parts replaced, and observations.
• Manage the operation and process tasks of the Air Separation Plant.
• Adjust oxygen and nitrogen parameters as required by Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and Ladle Furnace (LF) processes.
• Monitor technical and safety parameters of LPG storage facilities and handling equipment, including compressors, tanks, boilers, pumps, evaporators, and pressure-reducing stations.
• Oversee the operation of the ASP, WTP, compressed air plant, and LPG storage system.
• Assist in coordination with EAF, LF, and caster teams to manage demand and with other departments regarding team requirements.
• Conduct daily shift activities, addressing operation and maintenance problems, and checking for system leaks in compressors and storage tanks.
• Handle emergency power failure activities in WTP, CAP, ASP, and LPG storage systems.
• Record oxygen purity, output, and alarms, and adhere to instructions from Management.
• Record field readings of ASP, WTP, CAP, and LPG storage systems as per log sheets and report any abnormalities.
• Implement safety procedures during the unloading of LPG from mobile tankers to storage tanks.
• Clean equipment, tools, and work areas by removing combustible materials and perform cleaning after maintenance jobs.
• Execute safe shutdown and startup procedures for the oxygen plant.
• Handle liquid oxygen and nitrogen safely during tanker unloading.
• Ensure compliance with safety directives issued by Management.

Qualifications and Experience

• 0-1 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to understand and adjust pressure, temperature, flow rates, and purity parameters.
• Proficiency in recording operating parameters and identifying equipment defects.

Required Skills

• Strong attention to detail for recording data and monitoring equipment.
• Knowledge of safety requirements for air separation plants and LPG handling.
• Ability to collaborate with mechanical technicians and other departments.
• Competence in operating and maintaining plant equipment.
• Basic understanding of SAP for data entry.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Al Qatif, involving shift activities and coordination with various operational teams.
