About the Role

Aljomaih Energy & Water is seeking a Shift Charge Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operations of a combined cycle power plant. Based in Ash Shimasiyah, Al Qassim Province, this full-time role involves ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and regulatory standards. The Shift Charge Engineer will lead an operations team, manage emergency responses, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the combined cycle power plant, including gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), and auxiliary systems, ensuring operation within design parameters and meeting PPA demand.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise the operations team during shifts, promoting a culture of safety, reliability, and accountability, and providing training to enhance capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with all terms of the Power Purchase Agreement, including availability, output, and reporting requirements, as well as adherence to environmental regulations and operational standards.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational parameters using plant control systems, responding promptly to alarms and anomalies, and preparing detailed shift reports.
• Act as the primary contact for emergency situations, coordinating response efforts and leading troubleshooting to resolve operational issues in collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to facilitate planned maintenance and operational improvements while minimizing disruption to plant operations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and operational best practices in line with contractual obligations, engaging in professional development.
• Maintain accurate logs of plant operations, safety checks, and compliance documentation, ensuring timely reporting of operational data to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) or a related field. Relevant certifications in power plant operation or management are considered an asset.
• Experience: Around 8 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Specific experience in combined cycle plants is preferred, especially Siemens GT based CCGT experience.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of combined cycle power generation processes, including regulatory considerations and contractual obligations under a PPA.

Language Requirements

• Languages: Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.

Work Environment and Conditions

• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, with the capability to manage emergency situations.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by operational needs.
