Job Description

About Acwa Operations

Acwa Operations, formerly NOMAC, serves as Acwa's dedicated operations and maintenance arm, ensuring the dependable and efficient delivery of essential services to millions daily. Since 2005, we have partnered with clients across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, providing deep technical knowledge and strong operational systems to manage power generation and water desalination assets throughout their lifecycle. Our work directly contributes to Acwa’s mission of delivering sustainable and affordable energy and water solutions globally.

The Red Sea Utilities Project Context

This role is integral to the Red Sea Utilities Multi-Utilities Project, a landmark greenfield initiative by ACWA Power in partnership with Red Sea Global. This 25-year Utilities Concession Agreement involves the development, construction, operation, and eventual transfer of a fully integrated, off-grid utilities infrastructure supporting Saudi Arabia’s premier tourism destination in Umluj, Tabuk. The project encompasses a 340 MWac solar PV plant combined with a 1,000–1,200 MWh battery energy storage system for 24/7 clean energy, alongside seawater desalination (up to 32,500 m3/day), wetlands-based sewage treatment (16,000 m3/day), district cooling (32,500 RT), and zero-landfill waste management (~11,775 t/year).

  • Support root cause analyses and lead the implementation of corrective and preventive actions for operational issues.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Performance teams for planned outages and emergent work to minimize downtime and production losses.
  • Validate commissioning and return-to-service procedures for power systems following maintenance activities.
  • Champion a strong Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) culture, ensuring compliance with NOMAC/ACWA standards and Red Sea Global (RSG) site rules, and actively participating in audits and drills.
  • Guide Shift Engineers and Operators, providing on-the-job coaching and ensuring their skills remain current.
  • Liaise with the Plant General Manager (PGM), O&M teams, and external stakeholders as required.

Required Experience

Candidates for the Sr. Power Engineer position should possess 8-10 years of relevant experience in power generation operations, particularly within renewable energy (PV/BESS) and integrated utility projects. A strong understanding of grid codes, OEM recommendations, and HSSE standards is essential for this role.
