Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes within your specialty section. Ensure that all food is prepared to the required standards, following recipes and presentation guidelines.
  • Support and Collaboration: Work closely with the Chef de Partie and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Provide support to junior staff and help train new team members.
  • Ingredient Management: Ensure that all ingredients are properly stored, prepared, and used efficiently to minimize waste. Monitor stock levels and report any shortages to the Chef de Partie.
  • Kitchen Hygiene and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times. Adhere to all food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Quality Control: Consistently monitor and taste dishes to ensure they meet the restaurant’s quality standards. Make adjustments as needed to improve the taste, texture, and presentation of dishes.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the Chef de Partie and other senior kitchen staff in creating and refining menu items. Contribute ideas for new dishes and improvements to existing recipes.
  • Shift Management: Assist in managing kitchen operations during assigned shifts, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and that the kitchen runs smoothly.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: Proven experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role as a Commis Chef or Demi Chef de Partie.
  • Culinary Skills: Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations. Ability to work with a wide range of ingredients and cuisines.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, particularly in the presentation and plating of dishes.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business.
  • Passion for Cooking: A genuine passion for cooking and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Educational Background:
A diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory. Practical experience and demonstrated skills are highly valued.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capacity to work in a hot and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as pots and pans.
