Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation and Cooking: Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes within your specialty section. Ensure that all food is prepared to the required standards, following recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Support and Collaboration: Work closely with the Chef de Partie and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Provide support to junior staff and help train new team members.
- Ingredient Management: Ensure that all ingredients are properly stored, prepared, and used efficiently to minimize waste. Monitor stock levels and report any shortages to the Chef de Partie.
- Kitchen Hygiene and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times. Adhere to all food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and health and safety guidelines.
- Quality Control: Consistently monitor and taste dishes to ensure they meet the restaurant’s quality standards. Make adjustments as needed to improve the taste, texture, and presentation of dishes.
- Menu Development: Collaborate with the Chef de Partie and other senior kitchen staff in creating and refining menu items. Contribute ideas for new dishes and improvements to existing recipes.
- Shift Management: Assist in managing kitchen operations during assigned shifts, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and that the kitchen runs smoothly.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role as a Commis Chef or Demi Chef de Partie.
- Culinary Skills: Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations. Ability to work with a wide range of ingredients and cuisines.
- Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, particularly in the presentation and plating of dishes.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Time Management: Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business.
- Passion for Cooking: A genuine passion for cooking and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
