About the PT/ED Production Jr. Technician Role

Lucid is seeking a PT/ED Production Jr. Technician to join our team in Makkah, specifically in King Abdullah Economic City and Makkah. This full-time position is integral to ensuring the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the Pretreatment & Electrodeposition (PT/ED) processes within our automotive paint shop. The role requires a commitment to maintaining consistent body quality, achieving optimal corrosion protection performance, and meeting production throughput targets.

Core Responsibilities

The PT/ED Production Jr. Technician is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, managing personnel, equipment, and process controls to meet QCDSM (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale) targets. This includes:

  • Leading daily PT/ED production to achieve planned volume and shift targets.
  • Monitoring and controlling key process parameters across all PT/ED stages, including degreasing, rinsing, activation, phosphating, passivation, ED bath parameters, and ultrafiltration.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), control plans, and work instructions.
  • Coordinating line start-up, shutdown, changeovers, and recovery procedures.
  • Verifying that body corrosion protection performance meets OEM standards and internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identifying and addressing defects such as poor phosphate coverage, ED defects, craters, pinholes, and low film build.
  • Conducting PTED checks and validating inspection results.
  • Leading root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective actions.
  • Supporting audits, capability studies, and customer quality requirements.
  • Enforcing compliance with safety rules, chemical handling, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ensuring proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe operation of equipment.
  • Leading daily safety talks and incident prevention activities.
  • Ensuring environmental compliance related to wastewater treatment, chemical storage, and emissions.
  • Supervising, coaching, and motivating operators and technicians.
  • Managing shift handovers, work allocation, and manpower balancing.
  • Coordinating with maintenance teams for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Supporting the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Kaizen activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role should possess the following qualifications:

  • A Diploma degree or equivalent technical qualification.
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of experience specifically in PT/ED processes.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or team leader role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OEM automotive quality standards and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and support production schedules.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of automotive pretreatment and cathodic electrodeposition processes.
  • Familiarity with corrosion protection principles and coating thickness control.
  • Ability to interpret control charts and quality reports.
  • Knowledge of chemical dosing systems, rectifiers, UF systems, and basic wastewater treatment principles.
  • Capability to read and follow technical manuals, SOPs, and process specifications.
  • Proficiency in shop-floor leadership and team management.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Decision-making capability in high-pressure production environments.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with ERP systems, production reporting, and MS Office.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a results-driven approach.

Work Location and Type

This is a full-time position located in King Abdullah Economic City and Makkah, within the Makkah region.
