RC Lead Driller

About the Role

Virtucruit is collaborating with a prominent mining company in Saudi Arabia to recruit an RC Lead Driller for their Drilling Department. This full-time position is based in the Al Joshwan mountain range, situated at 1,750m above sea level in Najran. The role involves managing all drilling operations under the supervision of the Drilling Supervisor, with a focus on achieving high performance and delivering quality test results.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all activities on the drill rig, including the assembly of drilling tools, connection of drill pipe sections, and machinery operation.
• Ensure the maintenance of the highest safety, health, and environmental work standards.
• Perform inspections, basic maintenance, and minor repairs on RC drill rigs, escalating complex issues to superiors and maintenance teams.
• Support rig operations, including rig-up/down, relocation, and logistics.
• Conduct daily pre-shift, site, and mast inspections.
• Monitor drilling performance and ensure accurate sample collection and hole alignment.
• Troubleshoot downhole and basic mechanical issues.
• Carry out fueling and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Record equipment hours and performance data daily.
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with HSE requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate superior.
• Support the development and training of local nationals through mentorship, guidance, and coaching.

Qualifications and Experience

• Technical Diploma or High School education with equivalent years of experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in RC exploration drill rigs, with a preference for Epiroc experience.
• Previous experience working on RC and/or DTH drilling rigs.
• Basic knowledge of Drilling Operations and an understanding of drilling processes and procedures.
• Basic English communication skills, both oral and written.
