About the Role
Petro Rabigh is seeking a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Specialist to join their team in Rabigh. This full-time position requires a seasoned professional with over 10 years of relevant experience.
Core Responsibilities
The RCA Specialist will be responsible for leading and facilitating detailed Root Cause Analysis for critical equipment failures and safety incidents. This involves utilizing structured RCA methodologies such as TapRooT, ICAM, 5-Why, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify technical, human, and systemic root causes. The role also includes developing recommendations and corrective actions in collaboration with responsible departments, maintaining the RCA database, tracking the implementation of actions, and verifying their effectiveness. Post-implementation reviews and monitoring of recurring failure indicators are also key duties. Additionally, the specialist will train internal teams on RCA techniques and investigative tools and support Management of Change (MOC) reviews related to failure mitigation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE) or an equivalent qualification from a reputable university, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation.
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant technical experience in an engineering field within a large Refinery or Petrochemical setting.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in RCA facilitation and defect elimination processes is mandatory.
Essential Skills and Competencies
- Strong expertise in RCA tools, including TapRooT and Apollo.
- Advanced analytical thinking with the ability to identify systemic causes.
- Excellent facilitation, interviewing, and communication skills.
- A solid technical understanding of equipment failure modes.
- The ability to evaluate evidence, timelines, logs, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in report writing and investigation documentation.
Certifications
- Certified TapRooT® Investigator is essential.
- Apollo Root Cause Methodology certification is optional.
