Prequalification Engineer T&D

About the Role

CHINT is seeking a Prequalification Engineer T&D to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time position involves managing the complete prequalification and product approval processes for CHINT’s Transmission & Distribution (T&D) equipment. The role requires a professional who can ensure technical compliance and efficient coordination from initial assessment to final approval, working under the supervision of the Senior Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage each pre-qualification as a project, including defining plans, milestones, risks, and providing regular status reports.
• Review utility and customer PQ requirements, preparing requirement matrices, gap analyses, and action plans.
• Verify technical submissions against applicable utility specifications, IEC standards, and customer requirements prior to submission.
• Coordinate with CHINT HQ and factories for the preparation, review, and closure of technical documents and customer comments.
• Conduct technical reviews of T&D equipment documentation for products such as Power Transformers, GIS/HGIS, CT, PT/VT, CVT, Circuit Breakers, and Reactors, typically covering 30/33/36/132/230/380 kV and above.
• Coordinate factory audits, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and type tests required for approvals, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Manage PQ portals, document submissions, revisions, approvals, and correspondence.
• Organize and maintain PQ document libraries, trackers, certificates, test reports, and approval records with full traceability, including validity and renewal dates.
• Handle utility and customer technical meetings, audits, and clarification sessions as required.
• Prepare management presentations, dashboards, progress reports, and technical summaries.
• Maintain lessons learned and reusable PQ databases to enhance future approval cycles.
• Align the approval pipeline with Sales priorities and support the PQ-cost to sales-forecast (ROI) assessment.
• Support market, product, and entity studies, as well as approval-priority assessments.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in prequalification or product approval for T&D equipment.
• Strong understanding of utility/customer PQ requirements and IEC standards.
• Proven ability to manage projects, including planning, milestones, and risk assessment.
• Experience coordinating with internal and external stakeholders for technical documentation and approvals.
