About the Role of Laboratory Technician

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib (HMG) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team. This full-time role involves performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to ensure accurate results across multiple disciplines. The ideal candidate will have 0-1 years of experience in a relevant field.

Role Purpose and Objectives

The primary objective of this position is to conduct various chemistry, hematology, blood bank, serology, microscopy, and bacteriology tests and procedures. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for releasing accurate and reliable laboratory results that contribute to patient care and diagnostic processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and collect specimens under safe conditions to ensure optimal laboratory testing.
• Prepare specimens and apply approved analytical techniques across all laboratory areas.
• Accurately record results in the laboratory information system and report data.
• Report abnormal patient results to the senior laboratory technician or immediate supervisor prior to final release.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance, troubleshoot issues as needed, and ensure the availability of spare parts.
• Coordinate with biomedical engineers for scheduled preventive maintenance and in cases of machine breakdown.
• Execute machine calibration in coordination with the senior laboratory technician.
• Apply Internal Quality Control (IQC) as instructed by the manufacturer and participate in the External Quality Control (EQC) Program as required by national or international accreditation organizations, referring results to the senior medical technologist/senior laboratory technician for review.
• Record laboratory results in designated logbooks within the assigned area.
• Assist in monitoring reagent and material stock levels to maintain at least two months of consumption.
• Participate in continuing medical education to enhance professional knowledge and competency.
• Contribute to person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enhance patient experience through compassion, respect, and dignity.
• Provide patient and family education as required.
