Mechanical Material Engineer (Maintenance)

About the Role

JAL International Co. Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Material Engineer to join their team in the Eastern region. This is a contract position requiring 5-10 years of experience. The Material Engineer will be responsible for managing material activities that support maintenance and operation functions.

Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure efficient material management by applying strong technical knowledge to evaluate material specifications, review engineering drawings, and guarantee material availability in accordance with maintenance requirements. The engineer will play a critical role in supporting operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate material requests, technical specifications, and engineering requirements.
• Verify material compliance with drawings, datasheets, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Conduct technical evaluations of vendor offers and provide informed recommendations.
• Coordinate effectively with maintenance, engineering, procurement, and warehouse teams for material planning and availability.
• Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and isometrics to accurately determine material requirements.
• Support maintenance planning by identifying critical materials and their associated lead times.
• Ensure proper material coding and cataloging within the SAP system.
• Provide technical support, conduct material assessments, and offer engineering recommendations.
• Participate in troubleshooting material-related issues and propose technical solutions.

Experience and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a material engineering role.
• Demonstrated strong technical knowledge in material evaluation and specification.
• Proficiency in reviewing engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometrics.
• Experience with SAP for material coding and cataloging.
