About the Role

eXtra is seeking a Receiver to join its team in a full-time capacity. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely receipt of goods delivered to the store, verifying product quality, validity, and associated documentation. The Receiver supports overall stock accuracy, coordinates effectively with suppliers and security personnel, and is responsible for maintaining a safe, organized receiving area in full compliance with company standards.

Core Responsibilities

The Receiver's duties encompass comprehensive inventory management, operational coordination, and adherence to established procedures. Key responsibilities include managing inbound deliveries, processing returns and transfers, ensuring precise stock documentation, and maintaining an organized and compliant receiving environment.

Inventory Management and Processing

• Receive deliveries using the blind receiving process, verifying all goods against purchase orders.
• Inspect barcodes, quantities, production/expiry dates, packaging integrity, and overall product quality.
• Ensure the presence of the Operations Manager when receiving high-value or sensitive items.
• Record all received goods in designated registers and update actual quantities in the system.
• Perform daily system closure of receiving transactions, including receipts, returns (RTV), transfers, and invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SOPs.
• Process returns by verifying quantities, documenting reasons, and updating the system accordingly.
• Prepare and document goods for transfers between stores, ensuring correct quantities and proper paperwork.
• Coordinate with suppliers regarding rejected, damaged, or incorrect items.
• Review and finalize inter-branch transfers, ensuring system accuracy and alignment with physical counts.

Operational Standards and Area Control

• Report stock discrepancies immediately to the Operations Manager and Inventory team.
• Ensure all receiving documents—including receipts, returns, RTVs, and invoices—are accurately recorded and closed in the system.
• Maintain complete and accurate receiving records to support stock accuracy and audit trails.
• Participate in cycle counts and physical stock counts, assisting in variance investigations as needed.
• Maintain full control of the receiving area, ensuring it is always clean, safe, organized, and audit-ready.
• Coordinate supplier entry with the security team in line with store procedures.
• Ensure smooth flow of daily inbound deliveries by keeping the receiving area ready and properly arranged.
• Support daily receiving activities and product pullbacks as required to maintain stock availability.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or vocational/technical qualification (higher education preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in warehouse, stock control, or receiving, with a preference for retail experience.
• Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office and POS/Warehouse systems.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Work Environment and Professional Conduct

This full-time position requires adherence to all company policies related to health, safety, hygiene, uniform standards, and secure product handling. The Receiver must ensure proper handling and storage of perishable, fragile, and high-value goods. Consistent attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct are expected at all times.
