Site Civil Engineer (Substations / OHTL)

About the Role

Trading and Development Partnership is seeking a Site Civil Engineer (Substations / OHTL) to join their team in the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia. This full-time role requires a professional with 5-10 years of experience focused on the civil construction of electrical substations or Overhead Transmission Lines (OHTL).

Role Overview

The Site Civil Engineer will be responsible for supervising and managing all civil works related to substation and OHTL projects. This includes ensuring compliance with industry standards, coordinating with various teams, and overseeing the quality and execution of civil construction elements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all civil works specific to substations, including transformer bays, GIS buildings, control rooms, gantry foundations, and equipment support structures.
• Oversee heavy concrete pours for transformer foundations, firewall construction, cable trenches, and deep pile foundations.
• Manage the installation of transformer oil pit containment systems, drainage networks, and oil-water separators.
• Review civil shop drawings, method statements, and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), ensuring strict compliance with grid owner standards and international design codes.
• Coordinate mandatory soil, concrete, and compaction testing, and prepare Inspection Requests (IR) for client approval.
• Coordinate closely with electrical, mechanical, and GIS installation teams to ensure precise alignment of civil anchor bolts and cable penetrations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8 to 15 years of experience strictly focused on the civil construction of electrical substations or OHTL.
• Deep understanding of heavy structural concrete, masonry, firewalls, and earthwork dynamics for energized environments.
• Proven track record working with regional utility compliance guidelines and standard safety clearances.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret civil/structural layouts.
• Experience managing multi-discipline structural interfaces.
