Role Overview: ASU Shift Lead

The Air Separation Unit (ASU) Shift Lead is responsible for managing and supervising the operating staff and activities within their designated shift. This full-time position involves overseeing the operations of the Air Separation facility and Common Area for BHIG Company in Al Jubail, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Lead Operator ensures daily operational targets are met to maintain safe and reliable site operations, fulfilling gas and liquid customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and supervise operators in the Air Separation Facility and Common Area, ensuring daily operational targets are achieved safely and reliably.
Provide and maintain a safe work environment, demonstrating leadership in company and industry safe work processes, and ensuring proper documentation of safety activities.
Operate and direct staff in the operation of the Air Separation unit, Common Area, ancillary equipment, and the pipeline network for oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, steam, and CO2.
Provide technical direction and guidance for troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and testing activities, based on feedback from engineering and maintenance teams.
Support commissioning, startup, and shutdown activities, ensuring accurate document control and monitoring quality assurance initiatives.
Manage plant production efficiently using data-driven decisions to meet safety and reliability targets and maximize profitability.
Ensure compliance with all Environmental Regulatory requirements and BHIG standards for EH&S, productivity, reliability, and quality.
Act as the on-shift Crisis and Emergency Evacuation coordinator and maintain customer communications to ensure demand rates are satisfied.
Train and support staff, execute daily tasks as required, including preparing and implementing safety work permits, LOTO, and completing operational preventative maintenance.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in process plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Demonstrated ASU knowledge is a plus.
Proficiency in both field and Distributed Control System (DCS) operations.
Proven track record of success in safety, health, and environmental protection.
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to employee involvement, team building, and diversity.
Knowledgeable in the coordination of operations and maintenance activities.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively throughout all levels within the organization and externally.
Proficiency in English speaking and writing.
Understanding of local environmental and health and safety requirements.

Work Environment and Team Collaboration

The ASU Shift Lead will operate within a dynamic industrial environment, supporting the BHIG Company in Al Jubail. This role requires close collaboration with HSSE, engineering, and maintenance personnel to continuously monitor and optimize plant systems. The Lead Operator will foster a 'one team' environment, ensuring effective handover of activities between shifts for continuous safe and reliable operation. The position also involves managing customer interactions at the board level to meet demand rates while maximizing facility efficiency and profitability.
