Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer

About the Role

KBR, Inc. is seeking a Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer to join their team in Al Khobar, Eastern region. This full-time position requires a seasoned mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the design and specification of rotating equipment within the oil & gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and infrastructure industries. The role focuses on leading engineering efforts for medium to large-scale projects, encompassing both FEED and detailed engineering phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of up to 10 mechanical engineers and designers.
• Develop and manage the discipline work plan.
• Review and check equipment data sheets and specifications for accuracy and compliance.
• Perform technical studies, including compressor configuration studies, driver selection, life cycle cost analyses, specialty equipment configuration studies, material handling studies, and RAM studies.
• Evaluate technical bids from vendors.
• Conduct packaged equipment reviews.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on rotating equipment to the project team and clients.
• Ensure the design integrity of the mechanical scope, manage staff performance, and deliver work on schedule and within budget.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience as a Principal Mechanical Engineer.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and specification of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, seals, and specialty/utility equipment.
• Experience must be within the oil & gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and/or infrastructure industries.
• Demonstrated experience in both Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and detailed engineering for medium to large-scale projects.

Key Interactions

This role requires a broad understanding of activities across various engineering disciplines. The Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer will interact regularly with project management teams and client representatives to ensure project success and alignment with technical requirements.
