About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Dammam, Eastern Province. This full-time position supports the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions within railway projects, focusing on geotechnical, earthworks, and foundation works for new and updated railway facilities.

Key Responsibilities

The Geotechnical Engineer will lead and execute geotechnical and earthworks aspects of assigned projects from conceptualization to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications and timelines. This role involves acting as a technical subject matter expert for geotechnical design standards, analysis, and investigation planning. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including designers, contractors, and project managers, is essential for developing project plans and budgets. The engineer will interface with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring projects meet specifications, deadlines, and quality standards.

• Review technical documentation, including design submissions, shop drawings, as-built drawings, calculations, assessments, technical specifications, and bills of quantities, for completeness and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews of technical documents to ensure full coordination of deliverables.
• Participate in the production and review of value engineering proposals.
• Conduct quality inspections and oversee the execution of geotechnical and earthworks, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues in collaboration with Project Control Teams.
• Ensure adherence to project and company quality programs and policies.
• Provide technical support and guidance to project teams.
• Promote a culture of safety and perform site visits and attend meetings as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should possess a Master's or PhD in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university. A minimum of 12 years of experience in geotechnical and earthworks is required, preferably combining construction supervision and technical review. Proficiency in advanced geotechnical software such as GeoStudio packages, Slide, and PLAXIS, along with a strong understanding of seismic design principles, is essential. Experience performing engineering work in accordance with railway systems procedures, standards, and practices, and KSA regulatory requirements would be advantageous.

• Experience in analyzing project requirements and checking their implementation in technical documentation and site works through inspections and testing processes.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions in dynamic project environments.
• Good communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
• A detail-oriented approach with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
