About the Steel Structure Design Engineer Role

WMI - Westeel Metal Industries LLC is seeking a Steel Structure Design Engineer for a full-time, on-site position in Dammam, Eastern Province. This role is suitable for individuals with 0-1 years of experience, focusing on the design and detailing of steel structures and components.

Role Overview

The Steel Structure Design Engineer will be responsible for the comprehensive design of steel structures and their constituent parts. This involves creating detailed engineering drawings and specifications, ensuring all designs adhere to relevant industry codes and standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, fabrication teams, and other engineering disciplines to optimize designs for efficient manufacturing, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting structural calculations to support design integrity.
• Utilizing STAAD, TEKLA, and CAD software for structural modeling and detailed design.
• Reviewing shop drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Providing support for quality assurance during fabrication and installation phases.
• Participating actively in design review meetings.
• Resolving technical issues that arise during the design and construction process.
• Maintaining accurate project documentation throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience

• A strong educational foundation in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related Design Engineering discipline, with the ability to apply engineering principles to steel structures.
• Proficiency in steel structures and Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) design principles.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using STAAD for steel structure designs.
• Basic knowledge of TEKLA software is required.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for both 2D drafting and 3D modeling of steel structures and components.
• Experience in product design for industrial or structural applications, with a focus on durability, safety, and manufacturability.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field. Professional certification or registration is considered an advantage.
• Familiarity with relevant international and local steel design codes and standards, as well as fabrication and welding practices.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, perform structural calculations, and utilize engineering software for analysis and design.
• Effective communication skills, a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams, and a strong attention to detail and safety.
• Prior experience in steel fabrication, construction, or industrial projects in a similar role is highly beneficial.
