About the Role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Project Director – Supervision to lead the day-to-day management and successful delivery of major Property & Buildings supervision projects. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and requires over 10 years of experience. The role is critical for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with WSP's quality standards and client expectations, encompassing project leadership, client management, supervision operations, commercial performance, bid support, project governance, and multidisciplinary team coordination.

Project Management and Delivery

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of major supervision projects from mobilisation through to completion, managing multidisciplinary supervision teams. This involves ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining project execution plans, resource plans, and delivery strategies.
  • Monitoring project progress, risks, and key performance indicators.
  • Ensuring effective coordination among clients, contractors, consultants, authorities, and project stakeholders.
  • Leading project review meetings and ensuring proactive resolution of delivery issues.
  • Managing the operational delivery of supervision services, including appropriate deployment and utilisation of project resources.
  • Coordinating Resident Engineers, discipline leads, inspectors, and specialist teams.
  • Supporting project close-out, handover, and lessons learned activities.

Client and Commercial Oversight

This role requires strong client-facing capabilities and commercial acumen. The Project Manager / Project Director will act as the primary client contact for assigned projects, fostering strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, developers, contractors, and government authorities.
  • Ensuring client expectations are understood and consistently achieved, driving high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Managing project budgets, revenue, resource utilisation, and profitability.
  • Monitoring project financial performance and forecasting, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Supporting contract administration, variation management, and change control processes.
  • Assisting with claims management and commercial discussions where required.
  • Supporting proposal preparation, technical submissions, and tender responses, contributing project delivery expertise to work-winning activities.

Governance, Quality, and Safety

The role involves ensuring adherence to WSP's rigorous standards for governance, quality, and health and safety across all project activities. Key duties include:

  • Ensuring compliance with WSP project management systems and governance requirements.
  • Maintaining oversight of project risk registers and mitigation plans.
  • Driving quality assurance and quality control across project delivery.
  • Monitoring project compliance with contractual, regulatory, and authority requirements.
  • Championing WSP's safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Monitoring project HSE performance and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Team Leadership and Development

The Project Manager / Project Director will lead, mentor, and develop project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. This includes:

  • Supporting performance management, coaching, and capability development.
  • Fostering collaboration, teamwork, and high-performance behaviours.
  • Supporting graduate and junior staff development.
  • Promoting WSP's values, culture, and professional standards.
