Role Overview

HungerStation is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join its office in Riyadh. This contract position requires an individual contributor with a strong team-player mindset, capable of supporting a team and collaborating with management to advance strategic initiatives across the region. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Participating in architectural decision-making for a platform serving millions of users.
• Actively contributing to the migration of a monolithic application to a microservices architecture.
• Designing, improving, and securing the overall backend architecture to support significant growth in users and products.
• Working with Docker containers, Kubernetes manifests, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Coaching and mentoring other team members as a senior member of the team and the Backend Chapter.
• Applying Design Driven Development, SOLID Principles, Event-driven Architecture, Algorithms, and automated tests (unit, integration, and functional).
• Understanding the development lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional and agile teams.
• Contributing to continuous efforts in test coverage, refactoring, and documentation.
• Performing code reviews, debugging, and investigations regularly.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in backend engineering roles.
• Demonstrated track record as a significant individual contributor.
• Strong team player capabilities.
• Experience supporting a team and working with management on strategic initiatives.

Work Environment

This role is based in the HungerStation office in Riyadh. The position is offered on a contract basis.
