About the Baker Lead Role

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Baker Lead for a full-time position in Riyadh. This role is responsible for the preparation of a variety of baked goods, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of related work experience.

Core Responsibilities

The Baker Lead will prepare breads and pastries, which includes preparing doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating as appropriate. Key duties involve reviewing the daily production sheet to understand the variety of baked goods required, and preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality, and presentation standards. Maintaining kitchen logs for food safety program compliance is essential. The role also requires informing the Chef of excess food items to assist in planning daily specials. Safe and appropriate use of baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances is mandatory, as is strict adherence to food safety handling policies, procedures, and personal hygiene standards. The Baker Lead will check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, reporting any issues to management, and will monitor the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout their shift.

Leadership and Team Support

In addition to baking duties, this role involves assisting management with employee support functions. This includes contributing to hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees, serving as a role model. Maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues and supporting the team to achieve common goals is crucial. The Baker Lead is expected to handle sensitive issues with tact, respect, and confidentiality, and to serve as a department role model or mentor.

Operational Standards and Compliance

Adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols, is required. This includes reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to management, and completing required safety training and certifications. Maintaining a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance, protecting company assets, and upholding confidentiality of proprietary information are also key aspects of the role. Communication should be clear and professional, including answering telephones with appropriate etiquette. Compliance with quality expectations and standards is expected.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Candidates must be able to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces, and perform tasks requiring reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods is also a requirement. Other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors may be performed.

Qualifications and Experience

Required qualifications include a degree from a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School. A minimum of 2 years of related work experience is necessary. There is no supervisory experience required for this position. No specific licenses or certifications are mandated for this role.
