About KONE and the Role

KONE is seeking a Customer Solution Engineer (MP Tender) to join its team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a full-time position focused on providing technical expertise to identify and align KONE’s product offerings with customer requirements, particularly within the tendering process. The role is integral to ensuring KONE delivers optimal technical solutions for various customer needs.

Role Purpose and Scope

The Customer Solution Engineer is responsible for interpreting customer specifications and matching them with KONE’s comprehensive solutions, which include escalators, autowalks, machine-room-less elevators, high-rise systems, and third-party equipment. A key aspect of this role involves developing non-standard solutions and supporting the tendering process to ensure all technical requirements are met by KONE’s product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend regular customer meetings alongside the Sales team to clarify technical queries.
  • Account for the overall solution provided to the customer, encompassing integrations, services, and products.
  • Define specifications, costs, and lead times in collaboration with Front-Line parties, Supply Line, and Area and Global support functions.
  • Identify optimal technical solutions for non-standard customer requirements.
  • Ensure clarity regarding the scope of the solution, including KONE and potential third-party offerings.
  • Select the appropriate product platform for each offering and propose solutions from all KONE business lines, such as new services, escalators, elevators, and doors.
  • Translate customer specifications into KONE’s internal language and obtain corporate pricing from the Supply Chain.
  • Verify that proposed solutions comply with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Participate in information-sharing sessions for product and new service releases.
  • Provide input to product offering management concerning customization, standardization, and interface requirements for the portfolio.
  • Contribute to and utilize the Customer Solutions Engineering virtual and local network and case library.
  • Serve as the primary front-line technical contact for Supply Line Tendering Engineers.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the elevator business or a relevant field.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer handling skills.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English; Arabic language skills are an added value.
  • Understanding of various building types and customer segments.
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability requirements and norms.
  • Proficiency in CAD, with optional BIM skills.
  • Basic knowledge of competitors’ products.
  • Understanding of product total costing structures and local norms and regulations.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, requiring active collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to deliver comprehensive customer solutions.
