About the Role

National Medical Care is seeking a Dental Hygienist to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves conducting initial patient screenings, performing dental cleanings, and educating patients on oral health and preventative care. The Dental Hygienist will support dentists in treatment planning and managing dental emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a high quality of medical treatment, compassion, and understanding for all patients.
  • Conduct patient screening procedures, including assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, and dental charting.
  • Perform oral prophylaxis and provide oral hygiene instructions to patients.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Maintain dental materials, equipment, and cleanliness of the work area.
  • Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all tooth surfaces.
  • Apply preventive materials to teeth, such as sealants and fluorides.
  • Counsel patients on good nutrition and its impact on oral health.
  • Take impressions of patient teeth.
  • Perform documentation and office management activities.
  • Maintain and periodically review skills in First Aid and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation; manage medical emergencies until the Dentist arrives or assist the Dentist in providing emergency first aid.
  • Accurately chart findings of patient oral conditions and record treatments in the patient’s permanent chart.
  • Coordinate with reception and encoders for charges, appointment scheduling, and other necessary paperwork.
  • Participate in ongoing monthly education as developed by the department.
  • Educate patients and families according to their needs, implementing the patient and family education process as outlined in policy and procedure, including documentation in medical records.
  • Adhere to department policies and procedures, by-laws, rules, and regulations of the hospital.
  • Comply with the hospital dress code.
  • Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the scope of the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience post-qualification.
  • Current working knowledge in a related specialty.
  • Demonstrated safe and correct use of specific unit-based equipment.

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, within a hospital and clinic setting. The role requires adherence to established medical protocols and continuous professional development.
