About the Role

TawanTech is seeking an Expert Backend Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Riyadh Province. This full-time role involves serving as a senior technical authority in backend engineering, focusing on the design of highly scalable and resilient backend solutions. The successful candidate will drive technical standards, ensure architecture alignment, and promote engineering excellence across various initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Design complex backend architectures, services, APIs, and integration patterns across multiple squads.
Act as a senior technical authority for critical backend systems and lead their implementation.
Define and enforce backend engineering standards, patterns, and development practices.
Ensure solutions meet scalability, security, resilience, performance, and availability requirements.
Design for high availability and resilience in payment-critical, always-on services.
Review complex code, technical designs, and implementation approaches.
Resolve critical production incidents and drive root-cause remediation.
Optimize application performance, database interactions, and service communication.
Align designs with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory requirements.
Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities.
Mentor backend engineers and raise the technical bar across the chapter.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption.
Contribute to architectural decisions and technology roadmaps.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in backend engineering, with a focus on designing robust and scalable solutions. This role requires a professional who can lead technical initiatives, ensure adherence to engineering standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of system architecture and performance.

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in backend engineering.
Demonstrated expertise in designing complex backend architectures and systems.
Proven ability to define and enforce engineering standards and best practices.
Experience with high availability and resilience design, particularly in critical service environments.
