About the Role

The Helicopter Company is seeking a Flight Safety Senior Manager P121/P135 to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is central to ensuring the highest standards of safety across operations conducted under Part P121 and P135 Air Operators Certificates. The Senior Manager will be responsible for the performance of the Safety Management System (SMS), the Safety Assurance Program, and all safety and risk management functions.

Key Responsibilities – Safety Management

The primary duties of this role involve comprehensive safety oversight and management, including:

  • Assessing the effectiveness of SMS provisions and their alignment with THC’s strategic business requirements across P121 and P135 operations.
  • Conducting periodic safety and quality audits in collaboration with the Quality team to ensure SMS compliance.
  • Facilitating hazard identification and risk assessment across all P121 and P135 activities and the broader business.
  • Managing all safety and issue reports received under P121 and P135 operations through to completion.
  • Leading investigations of accidents associated with P121 and P135 operations, documenting outcomes, and developing action plans.
  • Coordinating occurrence and hazard investigations related to P121 and P135 operations.
  • Leading the development of Safety Cases for all P121 and P135 operations and identifying priority areas for risk control development.
  • Assisting in the maintenance and management of the THC Hazard/Risk Register.
  • Monitoring, assessing, and assuring the effectiveness of safety risk controls identified under P121 and P135 operations.
  • Monitoring corrective/preventative actions across P121 and P135 organizations and evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Assisting in the development, execution, and maintenance of Safety Programs at all Bases/Deployments.
  • Ensuring safety promotion throughout the P121 and P135 organizations and wider business.
  • Providing analysis and reporting of SMS performance within P121 and P135 operations.

Leadership and Safety Assurance

This role also encompasses leadership responsibilities and active participation in safety governance:

  • Participating in Management meetings where SMS adequacy is reviewed, and in regular Safety Meetings, providing minutes and tracking action outcomes.
  • Regularly reporting to the Director of Safety on SMS performance within Part P121, Part 135, and any areas for improvement.
  • Consistently demonstrating personal behavior that reinforces the Safety and Quality policy and THC’s stated Values.
  • Aiding a ‘just and learning’ culture within the deployment through appropriate statements and reactions to occurrences.
  • Developing a focused safety culture within all departments, with particular emphasis within P121 and P135 operations.
  • Monitoring staff achievements, performing periodic performance appraisals, and providing guidance, coaching, or training to direct reports.
  • Demonstrating a disciplined approach to safety priorities, time management, task management, and actions tracking.
  • Providing mentoring and improvement programs for direct reports within the safety organization.
  • Ensuring all work delivered under responsibility meets agreed standards for timeliness and quality.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in all work-related matters and information.
  • Providing open and honest feedback on perceptions regarding Management’s commitment to SMS.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this position should possess the following:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in flight safety management, particularly within operations governed by P121 and P135 Air Operators Certificates.
