Google cloud platform GCP Administrator

About the Role

HCLTech is seeking a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Administrator to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role involves managing and optimizing complex cloud infrastructure on GCP, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in a related field.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and deploy complex IaaS solutions on GCP, including virtual machines (Compute Engine), storage (Cloud Storage, File store), and networking components (VPC, load balancers).
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager for automated provisioning, management, and scaling of cloud resources.
• Lead the planning and execution of complex migrations from on-premise data centers to GCP, encompassing multi-tiered application and database workloads.
• Provide Tier 3 support for system-level issues, conducting deep root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents escalated from lower-level support teams.
• Implement advanced monitoring and logging solutions using tools such as Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging, proactively identifying and resolving system-level problems.
• Manage capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource utilization to meet seasonal and long-term business needs.
• Define and enforce organizational policies, Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles, and security best practices across the GCP environment.
• Ensure infrastructure compliance with organizational, industry, and regulatory standards through regular audits and automated controls.
• Implement and manage data encryption, backup, and disaster recovery (DR) plans to protect against data loss and system failure.
• Drive automation for recurring tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and configuration processes.
• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects and guide other teams on cloud best practices, strategy, and architecture.
• Work closely with cloud architects, DevOps teams, and security teams to align on standards, requirements, and solutions.
• Mentor and train junior-level engineers, helping them develop technical skills and understand complex cloud technologies.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for architectures, operational procedures, and standards.

Required Experience

• 5-10 years of experience in Google Cloud Platform administration or a similar role.
• Proven experience with infrastructure architecture and deployment on GCP.
• Demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
• Experience with complex migrations from on-premise data centers to GCP.
• Strong background in advanced operations, troubleshooting, and proactive monitoring.
• Proficiency in implementing and managing security and governance policies within a cloud environment.
• Experience in driving automation and collaborating on CI/CD pipeline development.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role involves close collaboration with various technical teams including cloud architects, DevOps, and security teams.
