Planning & Scheduling Engineer

About the Role

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Planning & Scheduling Engineer to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is responsible for leading all aspects of project planning, scheduling, forecasting, and delay analysis across major road and infrastructure programs. The ideal candidate will provide strategic oversight of project timelines, ensuring that all activities align with approved project milestones and contractual requirements. This position is critical for securing timely project delivery and supporting overall program success through robust project controls and effective coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and optimize the Master Project Schedule using Primavera P6, ensuring integration of all project components and alignment with scope, resources, and timelines.
• Review and evaluate contractor baseline schedules for logical sequencing, resource loading, and consistency with contractual requirements, preparing recommendations for approval or revisions.
• Monitor project progress through periodic updates, performance assessments, and schedule variance analysis, identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions.
• Conduct schedule forecasting and completion date analysis, including the preparation of mitigation and recovery plans for delayed or at-risk activities.
• Lead schedule risk assessments, performing what-if analyses, impact evaluations, and delay analyses to support Extension of Time (EOT) claims and contractual decision-making.
• Prepare high-quality progress dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reports, providing insights on schedule status, risks, and performance trends.
• Collaborate with project managers, discipline engineers, consultants, and contractors to validate progress data, resolve schedule conflicts, and maintain alignment.
• Ensure compliance with contractual and industry-standard planning and scheduling requirements, with familiarity with FIDIC-based contracts preferred.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise the planning team, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight to junior planning engineers and schedulers.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Experience with major road and infrastructure programs.
• Familiarity with FIDIC-based contracts is preferred.
• Saudi Nationals are ideally preferred for this position.
