About the Role
Amazon Saudi Arabia (ex-Souq) is seeking a Procurement Specialist (SPM) to join the SPO KSA team in Riyadh. This full-time position is within the Global Procurement Organization (GPO) supporting Amazon Stores Operations, specifically within the EMEA Site Procurement Operations (SPO) team. The role involves leading and delivering strategic procurement projects for internal business partners at various levels.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
As a Procurement Specialist, you will act as a business partner within a cross-functional environment, collaborating with Operations, Procurement peers, support departments, and suppliers. The primary objective is to procure value-adding solutions for the business while driving continuous improvement, innovation, sustainability, and mitigating legal and supply risks. This role is key to delivering on SPO Performance Indicators such as savings, compliance, sustainability, and managing invoices on hold.
Sourcing and Project Delivery
- Manage the SPO Process and policy from needs identification through to sourcing requirement execution at local, regional, country, and cross-continent levels.
- Anticipate and understand business needs to develop appropriate Procurement strategies and optimal requirements.
- Lead sourcing activities, supplier due diligence, negotiations, and risk assessments using tools like Coupa.
- Conduct market research and evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities to develop the GPO supplier base for current and future needs.
- Deliver projects (RFI, RFQ, etc.) with varying spend thresholds, complexity, risks, confidentiality, and time constraints, analyzing solutions and providing recommendations.
- Execute and support GPO projects and initiatives, including tenders, cost optimizations, sustainability efforts, and process improvements.
- Support critical yearly peak readiness activities, such as documenting lessons learned, creating readiness presentations, and executing playbook actions.
Internal Partnership and Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Procurement within operations on site, fostering effective business partnerships.
- Proactively partner with Site Leadership, other GPO teams (*, Category, Global Supplier Management), and key functions like Finance and Legal.
- Lead Management Business Reviews (MBR) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute expertise to key supplier meetings and internal processes such as GEMBAs and Daily Deep Dives.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to add value to local procurement categories and processes.
- Identify and leverage savings opportunities, perform spend analysis, and support strategy definition for the country network.
- Deliver monetary value through cost/revenue management, operational savings, revenue generation, warrants, and long-term contracts.
- Extend SME responsibilities to different scales, including EMEA level.
- Promote adherence to internal Spending & Transaction and GPO policies, educating Business Partners on rules and best practices.
- Provide functional skills training, including to other GPO members.
Systems, Tools, and Supplier Management
- Utilize applications and systems (*, ERP, Quicksight, PowerBI) for reliable reporting and data analysis, including supplier performance metrics.
- Use and enhance available tools to analyze and leverage opportunities and risks across spends, categories, vendors, legal aspects, and other areas.
- Manage contracts from initiation to completion, mastering Contract Life Management (CLM) and driving supplier contract compliance.
- Create, negotiate, and execute contractual agreements, including Work Orders and Supply Agreements.
- Manage supplier performance as per relevant governance structures.
- Ensure high levels of service delivery based on quality, maintenance, costs, sustainability, lead times, and other key elements.
- Lead and support MBR/QBR processes, acting as a liaison for suppliers, ensuring smooth payment processes, providing necessary support, and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
Team and Work Environment
The Site Procurement Operations (SPO) team works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver procurement support and solutions. This team is integral to site operations, working with local stakeholders to provide procurement solutions for complex on-site projects. Operations at Amazon is central to the customer experience, managing the process from order placement to delivery.
